@accelerator My local grocery had a crazy sale on standing rib roasts. It turns out 13 pounds of beef might be a little much for 6 people There were/are/still leftovers
@capnjb I found a great deal on rib roast too. The Air Force base Commissary has it on sale for $6.99 lb. That’s for the select grade, not prime. Still delicious and very tender.
@accelerator Who doesn’t like a good deal My two roasts would have been about $220, but I got both for under $90 I cut the ribs off and separated them and threw them under the broiler until the kitchen was smokey My wife used them to make stock and we had a beef and barley soup last night It was a lot of yum
@accelerator And logic would dictate that you are Air Force. Thank you. My dad was a 1st LT and ran a recon radar unit near the Berlin wall just after WWII. My dad is the one on the far right. He did ROTC at University of Washington and spent almost five years in the Air Force. Spent some time in Egypt too. I miss him so…
@capnjb I retired from Air Force back in 06 and then served civil service with Air Force and Space Force. I just retired again after 40 years combined service. It was a blast!
@accelerator He was an amazing man. Taught me so many things. He sat at a table with Walt Disney and told him, ‘No thanks’. He didn’t want to live in southern California. He was an amazing artist and architect.

Thank you, and by extension, your parents, for your service. If it wasn’t for the American military in world war II I would have learned to speak German instead of French!
I got sick and it’s been miserable having to force myself to do social niceties while having the flu. Apparently people don’t care about catching it, they just want to meet.
@mycya4me I did, except when eating, I had a mask on. Not that they were thankful though lol
But I didn’t really have the energy to care that they couldn’t hear me clearly through the mask. At least I’m back home now and hopefully I’ll be better by the time NYE comes around
We had an ice storm last night our power is out, I’m hoping it comes back on bc it’s cold. Other than that food was good, family time was nice, only complaint is no power and no heat.

It came back on after about 5 hours so it wasn’t to bad. Definitly could have been worse, thankfully there’s no wind to break any lines or a lot of tree branches.
